Career-related topic

Well in this time I have a lot of thigs to do, beetwen them tomorrow I will have a test about theories of personality, I had study a lot for it and it's really interesting because it helps me to understand better how the psychologic structures works, this test is very related to psychoanalysis, I've read a lot about Freud and Lacan and they explain that the personality of the people build since the Oedipus complex, it involves that the child identifies with one of the parents (mather the child is a girl or with the father if is a boy) and since that identification, the personality start to develop. I think this approach is realy interesting but I'd like to review some humanistic theories because they are more striking for me, I think that I should continue investigating more theories.

well some interesting websites to learn more about Psychoanalysis and personality are:
http://psychology.about.com/od/psychoanalytictheories/Psychoanalytic_Theories_of_Personality.htm
http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/155/2/298-a

Now I have to go to a looong night of study, see you soon!

My weekend

It's obvious that my weekend starts very late. I wake up around 1 pm. On saturday I usually watch T.V all morning until my mom calls my brother, my sister and me to have lunch. Then, we continue watching T.V up to 5 pm when we have tea. In short the only thing that I do on saturday is to rest, nothing else, but that is just during the day because when the night falls I often go to some bars or discos with my friends.

On sunday, I usually wake up a little bit later because parties leave me very tired, then sometimes I go to " parque forestal" with my friends and we train with the areal silk or buy some second-hand clothes in a free market that it's near there, or I stay at home and study all day. As you can see my weekends are a little bit bored but they are bearables and very relaxed.

My favorite song!!!!

Music is very important in my life. For me it´s a great getaway from the real world, besides I really need it because I'm studying circus acts and music is necessary in this environment to make the show more interesting, since it gives a special and different intention to the shows.

My favorite song is "don't panic" by Coldplay, because its melody makes me feel good. You should know that music is a very important stimulant, it makes us feel different things according to different people and contexts, but this song has the special feature: it makes me feel the same no matter whether I'm sad, glad, angry, etc. Its lyrics represent a period of my life where I needed something to cheer me up

"Don't Panic"
by Coldplay

Bones, sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
Homes, places we've grown,
All of us are done for.

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world,
Bones, sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
And homes, places we've gone,
All of us are done for.

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
And yeah, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.

How stuff works?...... What if I touched dry ice?

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. It has the very nice feature of sublimation -- as it melts, it turns directly into carbon dioxide gas rather than a liquid.

If you ever have to handle dry ice, you want to be sure to wear heavy gloves, because a block of dry ice has a surface temperature of -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit (-78.5 degrees C). The super-cold surface temperature can easily damage your skin if you touch it directly.

It's actually a lot like if you were to touch the handle of a hot pot or pan without an oven mitt. If you did this for less than a second -- so that you simply felt the heat and quickly pulled your hand away -- then at most your skin would be a little red. However, if you were to grab a hold of the handle tightly for a couple of seconds or more, chances are you would get a pretty nasty burn. The heat kills the skin cells.

It's the same with dry ice. Dry ice actually freezes your skin cells. The resulting injury is very similar to a burn and should be treated with the same medical attention. For the same reason you never want to taste or swallow dry ice. This would be like drinking something that was scalding hot and you would risk damaging your mouth, throat and part of your esophagus.

1. Why did you select the article?

I selected it because I didn't Know what the meaning of Dry ice was and I thought this article would be easy and interesting.

2. Did you find enough information in the article? Did you find the info you were looking for?

I found all the information necessary to understand what the dry ice is and what could happen if I touch it, I learned that it could be very dangerous and harmful for the health of the people if they don't take the necessary precautions to handle it.

3. What was the most interesting thing you learnt about it?

the most interesting thing that I learned about the dry ice it's if you swallow it, you´ll feel like drinking something very hot, and it's very probable that you damage your mouth, throat and even your esophagus.

4. Make a list of 15 words from the article that you found difficult to understand. Find their meaning.

1.Sublimation: (chemistry) a change directly from the solid to the gaseous state without becoming liquid.

2.Feature: a prominent aspect of something.

3.Melts: the process whereby heat changes something from a solid to a liquid.

4.Rather: to some (great or small) extent.

5.Handle: touch, lift, or hold with the hands.

6.While: a pice of something.

7.Mitt: gloves.

8.Grab: the act of catching an object with the hands.

9.tightly: exasperatingly difficult to handle or circumvent

10.Injury: any physical damage to the body caused by violence or accident or fracture etc.

11.Swallow: Drink or deglutition something.

12.Scalding: burn with a hot liquid or steam

13.Throat: the passage to the stomach and lungs; in the front part of the neck below the chin and above the collarbone

14.However: in whatever way or manner.
